Terms and conditions
Last updated [date]
Draft for review. This is a plain-English structure written from how the service works on this site. It is not legal advice, and the bracketed items need your company details before publishing.
Who we are
Rao Academy is operated by [legal entity name], registered at [registered address], India ([CIN / GST number]). In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Rao Academy” mean that company.
You can reach us at [email address] or [phone number].
Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The account holder must be a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over. A child uses the service through the account you create for them, and you remain responsible for that use.
What we provide
Access to lessons, practice, games and progress reporting in Maths, Science, English and Social Science for grades 1 to 10, mapped to the CBSE, Cambridge or IB syllabus you select.
Each child is assigned a mentor who reviews their week and writes a short note to you.
We describe the service on this site in good faith, but it evolves. We may add, change or withdraw individual lessons and features.
Your account
Keep your login details private. You are responsible for activity under your account, and you should tell us promptly at [email address] if you believe someone else has used it.
Please give accurate information when you sign up, including your child’s grade and board, because the plan is built from it.
Free trial
New families get the first week free, and no card is needed to begin.
One free trial per child. If we believe trials are being created repeatedly to avoid payment, we may decline to offer another.
Fees, billing and renewal
Current prices are shown on the pricing section of our site and are per child, billed monthly in Indian rupees, inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
After any free period, the subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. Payment is taken on the renewal date using the method you have saved.
We may change prices. If we do, we will tell you at least [notice period] before the change affects your renewal, and you may cancel before then.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time from the parent app. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Refunds are handled as set out here: [refund policy — e.g. full refund within X days of a charge if the service has not been used]. Nothing in these terms affects your rights under Indian consumer law.
Acceptable use
The subscription is for one named child in one household. Please do not share the account outside it.
Do not copy, download in bulk, resell or publish our lessons, questions or reports, and do not attempt to interfere with the service or access it by automated means.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will tell you why.
Children and safety
There are no advertisements and nothing for a child to buy inside lessons.
Only the mentor assigned to your child can message them. There is no open chat and no contact between students.
You set the daily time limit for your child, and you can review everything they have done from the parent view.
Mentors and human contact
Mentors are teachers engaged by us and are subject to our background checks and conduct policy.
Mentor notes and suggestions are educational guidance. They are not an assessment of your child’s ability outside the service, and they do not replace your child’s school.
Our content, and yours
Lessons, questions, artwork, software and reports remain our property or that of our licensors. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your child’s learning while your subscription is active.
Work your child submits remains yours. You give us permission to store and process it in order to run the service, mark it, and produce your reports.
Privacy
We use your and your child’s information to run the service, build their plan and produce your reports. We do not sell personal data.
How we collect, store, share and delete information is set out in our privacy policy at [link], which forms part of these terms.
Availability
We try to keep the service available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted. We may take it down for maintenance, and occasionally something will break.
We are not responsible for problems caused by your device, your internet connection or a third-party service outside our control.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Otherwise, our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
The service supports school learning. We do not guarantee any particular academic result.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email or in the app at least [notice period] before it takes effect.
Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at [city] have exclusive jurisdiction.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
